What is the most cost effective & easiest way to search these unindexed church records from the Mind
Family Search has the records but they appear to only be available to those with an LDS ID number (which I do not have). I have tried using the local FHC computers to no avail. I have asked the Family Search "help" email and they said that even if I were in the Salt Lake FHL that I could not access the microfilm records nor the books they came from. I did email the German archives and got a response that I can use & pay for at http://www.archion.de/. Is this my best option?
Here are the links to the records I'd like to search in Family Search:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/60580?availability=Family History Library

Thank you for any light you can shed on this!

This is the reality of having to live with the restrictions placed on records by the original holders of the records. These films have about the strictest restrictions placed on films short of our not being allowed to post them at all. Maybe you could ask someone locally who is LDS to look up the records you need for you. I have done that for a friend of mine who was stymied by a rule like this covering Philadelphia death records. Just a thought.

IF you were able to come to the Family Histiory Library in SaltLake City, you would still be able to access the microfilms there. If you can do your own research, that is, read the records, it's way cheaper for you to get a subscription to Archion and access the information that way. Hiring researchers is expensive. If you do know an LDS friend who could hlp you out, that would be a really good alternative.

This is so helpful to me! I'm now much clearer on the options & will give Archion a try. If I do make it to Salt Lake, I know now I can also access these records that way. I have researched other unindexed German records from Family Search, but had never encountered this type of restriction. I totally understand FS is constrained by the holders of the records. I learned to "read" the records in German via the wonderful teaching videos provided by FS, and I am so grateful for all the records I can access via FS! Thank you Robert & Baerbel!
