Would a WWI Vet have gotten a Pension, or have to use Social Security instead?
Or both?
My grandfather served in WWI, and I used to have his SS application, but just realized that maybe he also had a pension, and that the pension application might have info I didn't have already...

“There were no pensionsgranted to WWI veterans from the federal government. In 1924, a law was passed to award them bonuses in the form of certificates they could not redeem until 1945”

Thank you very much! (What a raw deal they got then - my grandfather didn't die until 1971, but I bet there were many, many WWI Vets who passed away before they could get the benefit. Wonder why they were treated so badly?)
