One of the reasons I love Welsh family history is the availability of manuscript pedigrees, many through FamilySearch. The image below shows one that I found yesterday related to families in the parishes of Llangyfelach and Llangiwg in Glamorgan. The pedigree goes back seven generations from the starting person in 1678. The parish records for Llangyfelach don't start until 1693 and Llangiwg's start in 1703. With probate and estate records I have been able to fix dates to some of these individuals, since yesterday. With a little more time I expect to do a lot more to document these families.

Ohhh thanks for brining these up Darris, I've got a lot of work to do on my Puleston line (Denbighshire), who link to the Flintshire branch, and then the Shropshire lot. Looks like I've got my work cut out!

I found the parish register marriage entry for Alice and Richard and added that to the tree on FamilySearch. Have you seen the new book by Jeff Childs on the parish of Llangyfelach? He has done extensive research on the parish for about thirty years. The book is a great source for that parish and does overlap into the surrounding parishes a little.

Thank you Darris for adding the marriage cert of Alice and Richard. on it, it states the Parish Church of Llangyfelach. I understand that Llangyfelach was a big place and had a few villages in it. I know Thoams Williams lived at Quar in Clydach, but my relatives John/Jones live in Morriston, and that comes under Llangafelach too. Do you know which church they are referring to.
Also I cannot make out where Alice Lived? I know or think pentwyn was past Glais towards Birchgrove I think.
Thank you again for this

Hi Darris
I am hoping to get to the West Glamorgan Arcives in County Hall tomorrow, Do you know if they hold all the records of Old Llangafelach Parish , I know that Clydach was part Many Many years ago. I would love to take a look and see if I can find a birth Cert for my Alice Williams and maybe some Syblings, there is a very old little church Bethania and maybe that was the church. Thanks

The West Glamorgan Archives should have most of the Church of England registers and nonconformist registers for Llangyfelach. They have some supplemental items that can add to what is in the registers of baptism, marriage and burial so don't stop with those records. The book Parish Registers of Wales will list surviving records. The book Nonconformist Registers of Wales will list most of the chapel records that have bee turned into a record office. Additional records like membership lists and donations books are not listed in Nonconformist Registers of Wales so be sure to use their finding aids and catalog. Also ask for help. They have great staff there.
