I am trying to find relatives that are related to Johan Nicolaas Dreyer who was married twice. His first wife, Marie Petronella Fourie had six children, Susanna Johanna, Susanna Jacoba, Gideon Francois and possibly three other children.

He then married Anna Catherina Pretorius and had three more children, Martha, Gertrude Petronella and Luis. They all went to Kenya but Johan Nicolaas Dreyer came back in his later years to live with his children from his first wife. He is buried in Grootfontein. He was my great grandfather. Any news on the family would be appreciated.

    Margaret,

I apologize for this late reply to your question. I did a few searches in FamilySearch and can't find the names you are referring to. Could you please send dates and locations or a PID number from FamilySearch so I can look into it?

    Thanks, Carol

    Hello

am afraid I can't find the pid number in familysearch but I typed Johan Nicolaas Dreyer and Marie Petronella Fourie and the date of the marriage which was in 1877 and the marriage certificate was there. I also found his baptism certificate and his children from his second wife that were baptised in South Africa but nothing about his first children as they were born in Namibia, which used to be called South West Africa.

The film number is: 007747918 image number 1248. His number is 97LV-2YG.

    Hope this helps

    Margaret,

Thanks for your reply. I found the names/records you are referring to and did a little updating by adding his second wife. Have you tried sending messages on FamilySearch to previous submitters of information? I normally do not do research in South Africa. Your posts will remain in case someone else finds something. Please let me know if you have success in contacting previous submitters of information. Thank you for using the FamilySearch Community.

Thank you. Where would I find previous submitters? A bit ignorant.

No problem. Go into latest changes on the right side of the screen. It will show who has submitted changes/information. You can then click on that person and send a message. You are definitely not ignorant, it just takes time to learn what is available. Been there, done that!!!! Carol
