Family members and other users can find the records of the deceased person in Family Tree.

    find

You can find the deceased ancestors by adding name, surname, and other information in the field then click Find button below. And you can link those person into your family tree by using person ID number.

You can put in a request in the Help section of FamilySearch to adopt your father's legacy of his work in FamilySearch. They will ask that you provide information proving your relationship and once that is done, all his work should then transfer to your FamilySearch account. I did this when my aunt passed away and I now have access to all her work on FamilySearch.
