Ann Arbor, Michigan - 1880's German Neighbor
My Great-Grandfather, Charles William Janousky (KG65-SYP) and my Great-Grandmother, Clara Louis Klawitter ( KG65-33L) immigrated from Prussia via Ha
KG65-33L Hamburg, Germany in April, 1882. They disembarked in New York and settled in Ann Arbor, Michigan within a matter of days. I am wondering if there was a German neighborhood during this time and if there is a map that might show the area and/or streets that encompassed this area.
As a side note about my Great-Grandparents, at the time they sailed to America, Clara was listed as the wife of Charles. However, they were marred as soon as they settled in Michigan. I believe that they indicated that they were married to ensure that they would not be separated. Additionally, Charles had a seven-year old son by his first wife that sailed with them.

"Ann Arbor became the seat of Washtenaw County in 1827, incorporated as a village in 1833, and was chartered as a city in 1851, which was also the year that John Allen died. The town became home first to large numbers of German immigrants from the state of Württemberg) and escapees from the Great Irish Famine (1845-1849), though Canadians accounted for the largest percentage of Ann Arbor's immigrants during most of the 19th century."

The link to michiganology.org provided an index of his death, but not a digitized copy of his death certificate. Does anyone know where I can find a digitized copy of the certificate?
