Mulè derives from the cognominization of a medieval nickname and appellation of Arab origin: from "mawla", lord, master and "mauley or muley", my lord.
This link leads to the documentation (in Italian, of course) of the diffusion of this surname in Italy

Here is a link to the Italian White Pages, you just type in a surname and place. It looks like there is still one person with the name Mule in Bisaquino. https://www.paginebianche.it/index_en.html
Also, if you have an Ancestry account you can search under public trees for the surname and town and contact the owner of the tree. I was able to find a cousin in Italy that way He then introduced me to his uncle. They have both been helpful in my research and we have had fun to figuring how how we are truly related.
You can also use Facebook and Instagram to search for surname and town. And reach out to people that way too.
Good luck in your research.

Here is a Family Search website with some records for the town of Bisaquino. The church record may prove to be helpful.
I opened them with my account at home, not sure if that is the case for everyone. I searched for the name Mule in Italia.Indettaglio. Not names appeared in Bari but the name is still in and around Palermo and Bisacquino.

Not sure if you can see my famiy tree on Family Search, but I was fortunate enough to work with David Vicchrilli and Lauren Elizabeth Wake about about a year ago at SLC. In 2 years, I have 10-12 generations of Sicilians from Bisacquino.
The first Mule' in myfamily tree is Aurelia Mule, born abt 1800 who had at least 2 siblings, Bernardo and Sgisismondo. That family line goes back to Vincenzo born about 1764, Giuseppe, born about 1721, Tomasso born about 1690, Francesco born about 1630 and Antonino born about 1600, and Giovanni born about 1565. The marriage documents should be attached to all of them from the Sicilian Church records that David mentioned.
You might look at L2NL-4WX Vincenzo Mule' from Bisacquino as a starting place. There are 6 source records attached to Vincenzo. Be might be one generation up from your ancestor. So, perhaps you descend from Bernardo, or Sigismundo.

A direct link to all the records here:
Terry Spallino is working on this lineage, and he is a very active researcher at SLC LDS folks.
