What type of records are you interested in? Are you looking for birth, marriage, death or other vital records?
You can search archivegrid.com for a list of all archives in a location.

There are almost countless sources for genealogical records . . . dont limit yourself just to the most obvious.
Museums, Genealogical and Historical Societies, Churches, Cemeteries, County Courts, Libraries - -the list goes on forever . . .
but what specific type of records and for what families are you looking?

Vital Records, old phone book directories, old land records (1900 - 1940), Early Afro-American Baptist Church Records etc. I have search many search engines without success. I have received a suggestion to search archivegrid.com which I will explore. Thanks for your reply.

Thanks again for your assistance. The records that I am particular looking for is my fraternal grandfather, Lank Henry or Lynch Henry. A name is all the family has. My father's name is William "Jim" Henry, Born, April 1902 and died, September 1971. He too have gaps in census records for 1930 and 1940. The family lived near Bolton and Raymond Mississippi and may have worked on John Gettis Plantation. In 1910 he was enumerated in the household of Jim Taylor as James Taylor. He worked for the WPA, sometime after WWII around Arcola, Mississippi. But Lank Henry is the elusive ancestor. There's rumor that he may have lived in Alabama for a short time working in the coal mine. But I have not researched coal mines in Alabama. Thanks again.
