Help needed !
my grandfather was born in 1904 in Hungary Istvan Devai
Grandmother 1909 katalin rizmayer although spelling could be different
I’m trying to find the marriage certificate, I would think it would be late 20s to 30s
There is a record but I can’t find it although I’ve spent many hours searching
Any help much appreciated!

Can you share whether you know the couple were married in Hungary or had emigrated to the US and then married in the US? Also, Since Hungary was resized after WW I, is the birth location you included still in the Hungary of today, or in another country. My Hungarian grandfather was born in what is now Slovakia. While the records of the Hungarian and Slovakian Catholic Churches are pretty good for birth information, I have not read of any assessment of the completeness for marriages and deaths. Infant and early childhood deaths have been recorded. Once Hungary was split into multiple counties, those other countries established their own vital statistics programs. Every country, just like every state in the US, has its only system and time periods for collection of vital events. I found the Family Tree Genealogy Guide that includes Slovakia to be very informative. The guide for Hungary will give you insight into that country's current system. I wish you great success.
