http://sok.riksarkivet.se/nad I usually get on this website multiple times a day in my searching for my Swedish ancestors. Now, all of a sudden, this site will not load for me. Any ideas about why I can't access it?

    it simply won’t load at all. Could it have anything to do with the fact that I live in America?

    Riksarkivet is a free for all service and it's not blocking access from any country. If you can't access the website it's a problem on your end.

    You could start by testing a different browser, to see if it's browser related.

    @Ulrich Neitzel Start with the simple things. Clear your cache in FamilySearch by going to Clear cookies and cache. This is an easy one-step method. You may also need to clear the cache and cookies in whatever browser you are using. The best instructions for this are included in a Google or other internet search.

    I am having the same problem. I have cleared all my cache and cookies and tried different browers including the computers at the FSC. Still nothing???

    I just signed up with Proton VPN Free and I'm back on the Sweden Archives! Hope this helps others!!

    Is Riksarkivet limiting access to their archives and collections? I live in America and have not been able to access any collections on their website for at least a week now. If they are does anyone know the reason?

    If you can't access Riksarkivet it's probably because your ISP is blocking access. I really can't see any other explanation! If you can connect through a VPN then there is some blocking going on. Riksarkivet does not block any IP range as far as I can tell.

    I reached out to them and they told me they were have technical problems but they hoped to be back online soon. They also said that using a VPN would work as a temporary fix while the were working on this.

    Thank you for reaching out to Riksarkivet. Much appreciated! As of today 2/9/2026, I still can’t access their archives online. Hopefully they will resolve their technical issues soon! I am hoping not to have to use a VPN, if possible.

    I signed up with a Free option of a VPN and I don't have any problems getting on their website any longer. I do hope they get the issues on their end fixed soon!
