Pfaffikon ZH - Census - 1678 & 1682 - Egg - Caspar
I am trying to find out the occupation for Caspar Egg and I have two census' that might give it. The 1682 census indicates he was possibly a miller, but there is a word after that which I cannot read. The 1678 census has a long note after his name that may provide his occupation. Your help to translate these records would be greatly appreciated.

We have been discussing this family before in connection with his son Hans Peter.
The 1682 register is clear: Müllerknecht = mill worker.
The 1678 register includes a longish text in rather difficult handwriting. I will not try to give a complete transcript, but am confident my summary describes the content correctly. There is no information on his profession. In 1678 (when register was compiled) Caspar Egg was a resident in Pfäffikon. Previously he had been moving around (see his marriage in Wila ZH). His first household (i.e. after getting married) - in Pfäffikon - was in proper order. All the children have been baptised in Pfäffikon: I have checked that for Hans Peter (1652).

Thank you once again for your help. Hans Peter is Caspar's son so I have now moved on to the next generation. Your hint about Caspar's marriage has helped steer me in the right direction. Thanks for going the extra mile!
