If you look at this record

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QLPN-PPFY?lang=en It will show you the family of Lars Johan Ersson (Eriksson). On many of the other census records for this family the mother's surname is listed as Olsdotter but here it is listed as Andersdotter. Same birth information for both. Would the children for Lars Johan Ersson & Eva lotta Olsdotter have the surname of Larsson/Larsdotter?

Thank you for any help!

Susan

    @Susan Richards

    According to the Swedish Death Index all children had the surname 'Eriksson'. They were born during the period when fixed surnames began to emerge ( https://www.familysearch.org/en/blog/swedish-surnames ). The Names Act of 1901 required all persons who do not already have a fixed surname to adopt the masculine form of their father's surname as their own.

    Note: FamilySearch has the strange (and incorrect!) habit of adding the mother's surname to the index for the children.
