Where was "Sophiahus" in Sweden in the 1700's?
The link below shows death records from the Vomb församling in the 1740's. The fifth entry down, on the right hand page, shows an entry dated March 6. In the line below the date, it references a location "Sophia (hus)". Does anyone know where such a place was? The ancestor I'm looking for lived in Dörröd. Also, I'm not sure if the last name of the deceased is Larsson, Lasson, or Hansson. Any input on that would be appreciated too. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that the name is "Hansson" (Hanßon). Compare the first letter with the "H" in "Hans Jönsson" in the sixth record from the bottom and with the "L" in "Dom. Laetare" in the record above.
I'm not sure that the location actually starts with "Sophia". I can't see the lower loop that is typical of the letter "h". Compare it with the "h" in "åhr". Unfortunately, I cannot offer any other interpretation.

I have not been able to locate a place called Sophiahus anywhere in Sweden. There are some places called Sofiedal but none of them close enough to Vomb to be the correct place.
There are a couple of reasons that I believe that Pär Hansson is not the husband of Elna Åkasdotter. Probably the most important one is that in her death record she is listed as Pär Lasson's wife. If he had pre-deceased her, she would be listed as Pär Lasson's widow.
I was able to find the death of a Pär Lasson who was living in Dörröd (Döred), Vomb when he died. I think he was probably the husband of Elna Åkasdotter. The record describes him as "inhyses Mannen ifran Döred (Dörröd) Pär Lasson". Those are the same words used in Elna's death record to describe her husband and place of residence. He died of "lungsot = tuberculosis" on the 12th of January.
He is 80 years old at the time of his death. That still is a pretty large difference between his age and Elna's, but that can be explained if either of them had been a widow or widower when they married. It was very common for a widow or widower to marry someone much older (or younger) than themselves.
As far as him disappearing from the Mantals records in 1748, that may have simply been that he was over the age to be taxed and was removed from the tax rolls. "The information given in the tax list varied somewhat from time period to time period and area to area, but, the following pieces of information are generally found in all the lists, going across in columns. The first page of the härad must often be referred to to make sure you know what is being asked for or marked in each column.
In early time periods, only the name of the person responsible for the tax was recorded. All other pieces of information were recorded via slash marks or numbers in the respective columns going across the page, as below:
- From 1652-1841 eligible taxables (ages 15-63) were listed (either by name or slash mark) under the name of the farm or residence where they were living at the time the roll was taken. Thanks, Ulrich! I really appreciate your help. On that same page, the 2nd and 3rd entries from the bottom are for a man and a woman who were both 60 years old. Could you help identify their names and where they are from, and if there is any indication that they might be husband and wife?

Translation:
On Sunday Exaudi, May 15, the woman Mette Hansdotter from Dör[r]ed was buried, aged 60.
On Pentecost Monday, May 23, Anders Segadsen(?), a cottager from __röd, was buried, aged 60.
My comments: The place name for Anders ends with -röd, but it is not Dörred/Dörröd. There is no indication that Anders and Mette may be husband and wife.

Ulrich and Norm - Wow! Thanks for the information! It's very helpful. I'll probably come back with more questions once I digest it all.
Here's the genealogy I'm trying to connect and confirm. My 5th GG was Anna Parsdotter, living in Dörröd #6 with her first husband Lars Bengtsson, who died in 1748, then with her 2nd husband Tufve Mänsson. The tax records show that during the Lars Bengtsson years, an elderly couple was living with them - Pär Lasson or Larsson, and wife. Since Anna's last name is Pärsdotter, which I get from the marriage record of her to Tufve Mänsson, I'm pretty confident that the elderly couple are her parents.
Anna died in 1782 at the age of 66, meaning she was born about 1716. If Elna was her mother (who died in 1748 at age 47, or born 1701) then Elna was 15 years old when Anna was born, and Pär would have been 38. Pär may or may not have been the father, and it's possible they met and married sometime after Anna's birth??
Anyway, there's a lot to sort through! I'll keep digging! Any thoughts you have would be appreciated!

Here is a link (see end of comment) to the birth of a son to Pär Lasson and Elna Åkesdotter in Dörrod - July 24, 1746. It is the second entry from the top of the left hand page. It is very interesting because of the names listed near the end of the entry - are these God parents, or witnesses, or what? I assume these are usually relatives, and I see the names "Anna" and "Lars Bengtsson" - I believe Anna is also a child of Pär and Elna, and Lars is her husband, who himself will die two years later. This would mean that the child in this record (Olea or Ohla??) is Anna's younger brother by 30 years.
It also means that Elna was 45 years old when she gave birth to this son. I was disappointed that the mothers age is not listed in this record - at least I couldn't see it.
If you could translate this record, that would be awesome. I think it would help solidify some connections among the people mentioned.
