CET
Is there a way for someone to opt in for CET trees and try it if they didn't sign up for it when it was in labs?

Based on other discussions here, the CET tree section is being rolled out in phases to all users. If you go to the genealogies section, scroll to the bottom to this section, click on Upload Your Individual Tree:
and see this:
Just click on Try Now and you're set.
You may actually just see this:
This means you are already in the new system and just need to click Upload Gedcom.
If you don't see either of these banners, then you are not in the set of users this has been rolled out to yet. Then you will need to just check back periodically. Some day you will have access.

Thank you, Gordon! This is the best explanation yet.
Question: if I've already uploaded my GEDCOM file (it shows up in the bottom of the Genealogies upload page, without the bit about CET Trees). Will it become part of CET once I'm included in the rollout? Or will I need to re-upload my GEDCOM file?

PRF trees and CET trees are different data systems. I'm sure you will need to re-upload the GEDCOM. When I go to Genealogies and look at my uploads, which I've not done many of, I see this:
(I have done a few more small Gedcom chunks to add clusters of families to Family Tree but have deleted them after moving the information to Family Tree. They were too small to be worth keeping as PRF files. I've kept the one listed for testing and explanation purposes.)

Gordon,
You are a great asset to the community and your answers are always spot on.
One addition, we are investigating the automatic conversion of existing PRF trees into CETs. It is not something that is done now and I have no date for it. The original uploader account would be made the owner of the new CET and they would likely receive an email thanking them for their upload to PRF x# of years ago. It would inform them that their tree has been upgraded to a CET, what that means, where they can learn more and also be provided a link to their new CET.
If they don't want the CET/PRF tree anymore they would be able to delete it. If they do, they can start updating it online. If the uploader is no longer around, the CET would just be static, but searchable.

That is awesome, Robert. For us who are the in-betweens for now (not activated for CET yet), knowing what we should wait for (as a trainer) will save us from revision later when things settle down. I've been looking at the matching options in the current PRF and trying to figure out the benefits. But I'll wait until we get later advice either in blog updates or that direct email you describe. Cheers!
