The first thing is to make sure you have at least five or six generations of your family tree entered on Ancestry.com for your father's and mother's families. This allows the automatic matching to work better and allows DNA cousins to see how you are connected. The autosomal DNA test is supposedly good for looking back and connecting with cousins for five or six generations so be sure your tree has at least that much and a little more if you have it.

@Evans Karen Ann Did you figure out how to use your DNA? What were you hoping to discover with DNA?

If you are a member of a family history site such as Ancestry and have uploaded your DNA to the site. You should start to receive DNA matches, who you can then contact to add to your family tree.
