Transcription, please - part of 1816 marriage record, Freist, Germany
Hello!
Would someone be willing to transcribe into German the information for the father - Johann Gottfried Werner - on the marriage record of his son Friedrich Christoph Werner, please? Thank you!
Having trouble getting the image to post… It's at Ancestry, which I realize many do not have access to: https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/61132/images/1273267-00578?pId=1223294

Hello @MHendersona2,
This is a birth/baptismal record.
Transcription:
Johann Gottfried Werner, B[ürger] u[nd] Maurer Geselle allhier; 5 K[inder] davon 1 gestorben.1 -
Thank you, Robert! Trying to identify his children, so it's very helpful to know there should be 4 others. Apologies for mistakenly referring to this as a marriage record.

You're welcome, @MHendersona2.
Note that I originally translated this and then saw that you requested a transcription, thus I edited my original response and provided you with the transcription. I'll try to remember that you prefer transcriptions unless you specifically say otherwise. I assume that's because you are trying to learn to read the German script. Good for you!

Thank you, Robert, for going the extra mile and changing it to a transcription. Yes - it helps me become more familiar with reading the old German script. This passage in the record had several abbreviations or abbreviated words, and your transcription helps me make sense of them.

A quick question about this record - the five children noted for the father - would that typically include the child being baptized? Or would it mean there were 5 additional children in addition to Friedrich Christoph Werner? Or is it not clear…? Thank you!

Hello @MHendersona2,
My assumption is that the child being baptized in this record is counted as one of the father's five children. However, I don't know this with certainty. Also note that one of the five children died.

Thank you, Robert! And thank you for the reminder that one child was deceased at the time of the baptism of Friedrich Christoph Werner.
