Finding living relatives in Finland
I went to Finland some years ago and found relatives in the Overmark, Finland Graveyard. When family Search developed the cemetery search it showed 42 relatives. I am going to Finland again on 20 August 2025 and will be in Overmark around the 24-25 of August. My research has since found some 231 relatives in that cemetery of the 377 in Family Search. I would very much like to see if I can find living relatives there. The latest burials are in the 1980's to 2000s. Some of the farms/villages represented include Groop, Granfors, Norrback, and Rafsback which still show on Google maps. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. Thanks, Severin Johnson

One suggestion would be to use Geni.com (free) or MyHeritage (paid). Both of these websites are frequently used by people in Finland to document genealogy.
1. Search for a deceased ancestor in the tree database (try somebody born in the early 1900s)
2. Open a family tree with that ancestor in it
3. See if you can tell how the creator of the family tree is related to the deceased ancestor (sometimes there is a home button)`
4. Send a message to the owner of the family tree.0 -
I looked up the cemetery on google eath and it seems to be surrounded by small rural communities. May I suggest you look for local gathering places and government facilities nearby and make a plan to introduce yourself to the locals. Come prepared with a family tree prepared and surnames involved and photos. Here is a page of that might give you more ideas
