Had a wonderful meeting today with Maria who was kind enough to direct me to this community. Wondering if someone can give me any help with where August and Wilhelmina were from or were living, whether the date on the margin is 1854 or 1851 (1851 makes more sense, but it looks like 1854), and any other family members. These are my 2nd Great Grandparents. I don't have much information on them except that August went east to Norka, Russia and then made a total 180 to go to Canada and finally ended up in Western Washington, where I live three generations later.

    Translated from Russian:

Marriage Record No. 21, 1879, Babiak, Evangelical Parish, dated 11th August 1879, of August Steinke, a young man, 28 years old, a private soldier of the Orenburg Border Guard Brigade, he lives in Kejsze, born w Zakrzewek, son of unknown father, and of Magdalena (?) (not Marianna as stated in Poznan Project), born Steinke, a widow Lauhstedt, day laborers in Zakrzewek, already deceased, and of a maiden, Wilhelmina Klemin, 25 years old, born in Czerniak, currently living in Grabowie, daughter of Mateusz (Maciej acc. to birth record of Wilhelmina) and Ludwika, born Dekker, already deceased married couple Klemin, who used to bepeasants in Nowy Osiek. Three Marriage Banns published. No prenuptial agreement. Witnesses: Samuel Schmidt, a laborer, 28 years old, and Bogumil (Gottlieb) Dekker, a laborer, 40 years old, both living in Kejsze.

Please note that Mateusz and Ludwika, born Dekker, married couple Klemin, their marriage is indexed in Poznan Project: Babiak, Evangelical Parish, year 1851, No. 23. The birth record of Wilhelmina is in Babiak Parish, No. 24, year 1854. She was born in Czerniak, 1st February 1854, christened on 5th February 1854, daughter of Maciej (similar to Mateusz) Klemin, a farmer in Czerniak, 39 years old, and of his wife, Ludwika, born Dekker, 22 years old.

Unfortunately, we cannot find the birth record of August Steinke, born in Zakrzewek, as we do not have those records. It is possible that he was christened in Babiak, as Zakrzewek was near this Evangelical Parish. It looks like Archiwum Panstwowe w Poznaniu, oddzial w Koninie may have indexes of those Babiak records. Their email is: konin@poznan .ap.gov.pl you could write to them in English, and they charge about $15.00 regardless whether they find or not find the record, but that could help in your research. Hope you can find birth record of August Steinke.

You're an angel, Maria! I will keep looking for Grandpa August, and really appreciate all the details on Wilhelmina. One question: "Ludwika, born Dekker, already deceased married couple Klemin" means that her mother was already deceased at the time of the marriage?

Wilhelmina Klemin, a maiden, 25 years old, born in Czerniak, daughter of Maciej and Ludwika, born Dekker, both deceased, married couple Klemin, who used to be peasants in Nowy Osiek, she lives in Grabowce (not on the current map).

Yes, both of her parents were deceased at the time of her marriage.
