[According to?] this verbal proceeding, which was set up by the justice of the peace of the Niederbronn Canton and Döbelmann of Gundershoffen, on the 27th of Germinal at two o'clock in the morning, concerning the discovery of the dead body of Jakob Löwenguth the younger from Gundershoffen, thirty years old, son of Jakob Löwenguth, cooper in the said Gundershoffen, and Salomea nee Nippert, it was learned that the death of said Jakob Löwenguth [was caused by] an injury to the cranium on the left side behind the ear, and by the breaking of the third Kralle of the neck. — On the basis of this declaration, I immediately went to that location, in order to assure myself of the death of the said Jakob Löwenguth, and then to prepare the present act [document], which Georg Linz the younger and Michael Düringer the younger have signed along with me. Note - I'm not sure what Döbelmann means, I couldn't find it in any dictionary nor on Google.

The word Kralle used here probably refers to a vertebra in the neck, although the word itself actually translates to claw or talon, but that would be weird…
