Hi,
I'm trying to understand the words in the notes section of the first line 7 across from Karen Sorin Pedersdtr Bakke (Bakken). There is a date—1850—but I can't read the rest. The other line 7 is her sister, Ann Katrine — and I believe the name of Drammen, Norway is the line underneath.
Thanks you!
Sandy

Yes, her sister moved to Drammen
Regarding Karen Sorin herself, I'm pretty sure the first line says "Til Sande prestegjeld," that is, "To Sande parish" which covered Sande municipality in Vestfold.
I'm less sure about the second line. I can't tell what the first word is, but the rest looks like "Sandford 1850" which I think would be "Sandefjord 1850." It would be helpful to find that first word elsewhere in the same handwritting. It was great that you posted the permanent image link from the Digitalarkivet, but could you also post the Quick Link (Brukslenke for sidevisning) which links to the full parish register so I can poke around more?
What else do you know about her? Have you found her in the 1865 census? I checked in Sande but can't find any candidate for her there so either I'm wrong about that first line, she moved again before 1865, or died before 1865.

Dear Gordon,
I am sorry I'm so late answering you. I do apologize. I'm actually interested in Anne Katrine, who I believe is the 2x Great Grandmother of my husband. We believe she married Halvorsen Ingebrigtsen Aalbu in Wisconsin in 1869, so I'm trying to find out how she came to the United States. This Anne Katrine's parents died in Norway and it looks like she and her sister may have came to the United States - but I'm having a hard time locating how she got here. I know that her future husband, Halvor, came through Canada. Well, I have him getting to Canada - and a about a year later marrying an Anne Pedersen in Wisconsin.

Dear Gordan,
Somehow my answer to you was sent before I finished it. I guess I shouldn't have shut my laptop when I left for a moment.

I went to Drammen to check out migration, but there are no records that go back that far. I read that I should check parish records in Bragernes, Strømsø and Tangen parishes. (I was hoping that there might be information in the Notes section of Ann Katrine and Karin Sorin that would help.)
I do have the marriage record I mentioned above, marriage 27 Dec 1869 in Adams County, Wisconsin.
If I have my research right, Ann Katrine's parents were Peder Jørgensøn (Gjorgensen) (1793-1866) and Live Kjerstine (Kirstine) Halvorsdatter Reine (1802-1896) from Sandsvær, Buskerud, Norway. Anne Katrine was born in 20 January 1837 in Sandsvær, Buskerud, Norway and her older sister, Karen Sÿrene, was born 12 November 1824.
Knowing about Sande parish in Vestfold is great!
Thank you so much for your help and any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Sandy
