NEW FEATURE: Possible Duplicates Enabled
Yesterday the Possible Duplicates feature was enabled for CETs
"Possible Duplicate"
Definition: 2, or more, tree persons within the same tree who match each other with high confidence.
User Action: Compare the duplicates and merge the person, and their data, until your tree contains only one representation for each real historical person.
Note: 2 tree persons that match, but who are in different trees, are not considered as Possible Duplicates. We anticipate enabling Tree-to-Tree person matching in coming months. This will facilitate aligning, comparing and copying data between trees (without any merging)
Where Is Possible Duplicates Visible?
You will find possible duplicates listed in the Research Helps section in the top right, and also in the lower right sidebar of each Person Page. It will also alert you if you try to add a new person to your tree who appears to already be in your tree.
Please test & provide feedback
As with any complex new feature, even when there has been thorough testing, there is the possibility of bugs. If you encounter anything that looks odd to you please post your observation in this community forum with sufficient information for the engineers to reproduce & triage the issue. (ie tree name, person IDs, screenshots, etc). We have team members reading each post and filing user reports for bugs and feature requests.
