What last name do you put on a family with Swedish ancestors and no last name is given but you know
Im doing Swedish and Denmark research and When I found the names of the whole family on birth and census recess the last name was never listed because its danish or Swedish often times they just put the fathers first name then added Son or daughter if it was a girl or boy like the fathers name was Carl so the children would be Carlsson or Carlsdotter but if they never list the anywhere sometimes they just add the others last name on like in this case it is Johanson. Just don't know which to put because in the later 1800s and 1900s they did kept the fathers last name. So is there a rule or what is usually done if they never list the Childs last name on census or birth record but both parents names are listed. Have all the dates for records to do baptism but just not sure what to put for last name and I have the whole family with parents and brothers and sisters.

Hi @juliannelarson1 This group is designed for Swedish speakers to ask questions in Swedish. You may have better luck getting an answer if you post in the Nordic Countries Research group.
