Looking for help to decipher Irish village name on a headstone from Pennsylvania
The headstone for Peter Gilmore has the name of his village in County Down engraved on the statue. However, it is difficult to decipher what the village name is. Would anyone be willing to look at the photo of this headstone and offer your opinion about what you think it may be? I believe the village may be something starting with "Bally___" but I'm not 100% certain.
This portion of the headstone reads
A native of
Bally_______, Co. Down
Ireland
The part underlined with yellow is the town, the green underlined is County Down, and the underline word in purple is Ireland.
The Find A Grave memorial with this headstone photo may be found here: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/147539503/peter-gilmore
Thanks in advance!

Good evening. There are several excellent websites for researching Irish townland names. Many townlands in Ireland begin with "Bally" which means place.
Some of my favorite townland search sites:
https://www.johngrenham.com/places/
https://www.swilson.info/townlands.php
Most allow searches with wildcards and isolating to a County.
We have to allow for poor spelling and phonetics from a time when few people were literate. There are two places in County Down that begin with Ballykil*
Best of luck!2 -
