I am unable to get any further than 1690 in my search for the DAUES name. The family lived in Coppenbruegge, a district in Hanover. My confusion exists in this manner. In England there are many, many DAWES names. I'm thinking that possibly a Dawes person left England In the 1600's and came to Germany. So, in the German language a W is pronounced V. and since the letter V looks like the letter U, that could be the reason why the DAWES became Daues. I would very much appreciate any feedback. Thank you, Joe
