Here is some documentation on Barto and Barteau. Don't know if its the same one you are looking for

But its good info on the name Barto and Barteau.

      Origins: Francis Barto (Barteau)

The earliest known ancestor is Francis Barto (Barteau), born around 1642 in Paris, France. He immigrated to New York before 1700 and settled in Long Island. His son, John Barto, born circa 1670 in Paris, also resided in Long Island. This family line continued through Francis Bartoo, born in 1711 in Flushing, Long Island, who married Mary Ketcham in 1739 .
