    AI Research Assistant

I keep looking to see if I'm missing something, but to date I've seen nothing. Here is my issue or question; every I login into Family Search with the new home page I am presented with the AI Research Assistant. It is the same list of people every time with the same recommendations.

First of all, the recommendations are totally wrong. The first person shows "possible spouses of……….". I know for a fact my grand uncle only had one wife and research backs that up. So, now that I have checked into this, there does not appear to be a way to "resolve" this or tell AI to stop telling me. At the moment, this feature is worthless to me unless I can find a way to remove items from the list.

    Thanks

    Charles

@CharlesSimonBanks In the dedicated group for the AI options, we've been told such a feature is in the works.

The AI Research Assistant product team plan on adding a feature that will let you tell the AI Research Assistant that it has included incorrect data.

How do I help the AI learn?

Last night, for the first time, I tried the "AI Research Assistant found a name…." It showed me a census record for the family in question, and there was an additional child. However, the child's birthdate was well before the parents' marriage date, so I asked AI "Who is Frederick Smith's mother?" It answered with the mother in the census record.

Well, I solved that mystery, but the AI Research Assistant doesn't know what I found. Should I be making additional statements to help it learn? Since the sidebar says "Ask AI Questions," I don't know what really belongs there.

I ran into a few of those. It is persistent! I give it that. I had to generate new profiles with data provided on the recalcitrant AI hints, which ended up being other people I merged later and then added the AI hints to them and those AI hints finally "went away" from the intended targets. It knows something is "different" , it just can put its "finger" on it and I had to dig deep to find out who those other folks were to get the data to match them and not the ones it "logically" decided they were supposed to get attached to.

So AI is a happy puppy that is way too "eager to please" and "no" is never going to come from it. It needs to be a potty-trained puppy and learn to stop peeing in the corners. Those who raised dogs know exactly what I'm saying.

I "helped" a cousin yesterday who has been wrestling with his Danish AI Assistant options and he has opted not to implement them, because he has not been able to "prove" those suggestions are valid. Yes, there needs to be the option to dismiss the possible options, just like is available in regular hints.

@RobertLeighPritchett Thank you for your comments. Even though it shows up on the Home Page, it is actually a separate part of FamilySearch that is not controlled by the Home Page team. But, I am sure it will continue to evolve and improve over time.

While the development moves forward, you can minimize that widget so that it isn't visible (small up arrow in the upper right of the widget.
