I thought I already posted this request, but don’t see it, so forgive me if it is duplicated somewhere.

I am looking for some help in reading a document that I think may be the birth record for my gggrandmother, Hanna Jorandotter. I hope that it will confirm her place of birth and give her parents’ names. I will attach a screenshot of the full page from Arkivdigital and also another screenshot that shows just the entry I believe to be about her. All of her household examination records show her born on 2 August 1771. Although the place of birth seems to change a bit, I think it is Tryde, Malmohus, Sweden.

If you use FamilySearch her ID is G6MB-3NT, there you can see this record as well as the othr sources I have gathered.

If you have access to ArkivDigital, the link for the page is https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v101532a?image=1600. Accessed 1 Aug. 2023.

    Hi Maxine.

"D. 2. August föddes Håkan Håkanssons dotter af Tommelilla, moderen ?Jullia? Månsdoter och döptes d. 5 dito och kalladas Hanna"….etc.

So Hannas is born the 2nd of August and baptized the 5th.
The father is Håkan Håkansson and the mother ?Julia? Månsdotter in Tomelilla.
So that will this Hanna a "Hanna Håkansdotter".

The name I was expecting is Joransdotter, but with the date and place what I expect do you think it could possibly say Joransdotter? Or do you think the name that has been interpreted as Joransdotter is actually Hakansdotter? Only the first three letters would differ. What do you think? I'll attach a screenshot of one of the household examination records. Do you think it says Hakansdotter?

Nils, here's another Hanna I found born on the correct day. She isn't from Malmohus but I think the county is bordering. I would think her name would be Olsdotter which would also not be what I expect.

Another Hannah born Aug 08 1771. Lastl name would probably be different.png

It looks clearly NOT like Håkonsdotter → it does look like Jorans/Jörans-dotter. [Göran is the most common modern spelling of the name in Swedish; in Danish it would be Jørgen].
So the patronymic has to fit, so the Hanna, daughter of Ola Jönsson can't be the right one.

OK Niels. Thanks for your help. It looks like neither of those possibilities can be correct then. I don't know of any other place to look so I may have to hope that other records are indexed at some time.

The problem here is that the priest have been sloppy. There are several Hanna Jöransdotter in Tryde parish. From Tryde Al:3 it's easier since it's indexed pretty good but before that.. start from Al:1 and work your way up,

In Sellhögs by in Tryde we have Jöran Abrahamsson & Carna Persdotter, Hanna is born 1783
In Tryde by, Tryde we have Jöran Johansson & Cherstina Olsdotter, Hanna is born 1783-1793

with that being said. I did take a look in Tryde Al:1 and the following pages are the ones I'm sure is the correct Hanna. All of the liks are to Sellhögs by farm nr 6 in Tryde and they are in order.

David, thanks so much for posting the information and for looking at all of those records. Your confirming that the Hannah I have on the household examination records should have a birth record found in Tryde Parish. I will have access to ArkivDigital at the FamilySearch library next week and will search through the pages that you suggest to see if I can find a Hannah born on that date and with the right parents to result in her name Joransdotter.
