Birth record of Charles Robert Heine, about 1836 Danzig
My great grandfather Charles Robert Heine was born about 1836 in Danzig, Prussia. His parents are listed on his Australian marriage certificate as Charles Joseph Heine and Wilhelmine Bernhardt. The first names have probably been Anglicised.
I am trying to find his birth record or even the marriage record of his parents. Any help would be appreciated in finding more information. Thank you

You may consider the following:
It is a difficult question. Gdansk has now close to 500.000 residents. Even in 1836 it was a big city with many churches and parishes.
Geneteka.genealodzy.pl shows indexed birth record of Josephus Hein born in Gdansk-Oliwa St. Jakub Church, year 1761, when you hover with computer mouse over “i” in the entry, it shows Martinus and Magdalena, as his parents. There is no record of his marriage to Wilhelmine Bernhardt, but if you search in geneteka.genealodzy.pl for births of Bernhardt before year 1840, you will find there two birth entries of Bernhartt people born year 1657 and 1666 in Gdansk-Oliwa, St. Jakub, again, if you hover over “i” you will find the names of parents. Oliwa is separate from Gdansk, and you may search records for Oliwa. Currently Oliwa has about 17,000 residents, it is easier to search than Gdansk. There are some Oliwa records in metryki.genbaza.pl - click on Wejscie, then enter Oliwa in the box. There are some birth records for year 1836 and later. It is a free site, no subscription, they exist by donations.
You may also search records of familysearch.org for Oliwa, and they have some earlier Roman-Catholic records 1593-1912, or Evangelical 1834-1921. There may be some Evangelical records entered in Roman-Catholic Parish. Please also note that there are some entries for this family in MyHeritage, but no birth record of Charles Robert Heine. Archean Archives in Berlin may also have some indexed records for Pomerania or towns near Gdansk. Enjoy your research.
