Looks like New Edingbro' but cannot find such a location near Lincoln. I will make enquiries with someone I know that lives in Lincoln.

Thank you Graham, that's very much appreciated.
An 1874 RN Seaman's service record for John Miles also records his birth date as per his birth record with the birth place being St Martin, Lincoln. I'm not sure if that is of help?
Prior to his birth his mother lived in Whisby (1851 Census) then she appears on the 1861 Census living at 7 Naylor's Row, St Michael, Lincolnshire. John was still living with his family on the 1871 Census at 6 Naylor's Row, St Michael. [I don't know when exactly John's mother moved to Lincoln. It well could be that she was already living in Naylor's Row at the time of John's birth 1858?]
Naylor's Row no longer exists on modern maps.
A RootsChat post provides the following possible location:
In the 1861 census, 1 Naylor's Row seems to be adjacent to 7 St Martins St. St Martins St is approximately parallel to the Strait and joins Steep Hill from the west. It was in St Michael on the Mount parish.
Source: https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=216489.0St. Martin's Church in Lincoln, England, was located in West Parade at the corner with Orchard Street which is not far from Naylor's Row (going west). [https://heritage-explorer.lincolnshire.gov.uk/Monument/MLI125060]
St Michael's Parish Hall in Lincoln is a building located at the junction of Steep Hill and Dales Lane, built in 1926 as a parish hall by architects Scorer and Gamble for St Michael's Church Council. This also located very close to St Martins St, almost around the corner (going north).
The only other thing I can think of is that it may be the name of a Pub/Hotel/Hostel/Boarding house, that John's mother was living in prior to moving to Naylor's Row?
I hope some of this helps.
Thank you again, Liz

Comments from my Lincoln contact
This looks like a House Name rather than the name of a Road/Street.
What is the address of the "informant" on the birth certificate? This may help to identify the house name.

After I couldn't find anything on maps, that was my thought too, though it looks like "7 New Edingbro' Lincoln"
The Informant was his mother at the same address.

Hello again Graham,
I've just stumbled on a site with Historical Directories of England and Wales. The 1857 Directory has a listing for New Edinburgh (attached). From the Directory it looks like it was a 'lane' in between No. 14 & 15 Mint Lane? I've mapped out the key locations on Google maps as best I can (attached).
