Require a Source to reference a change

Perhaps, requiring a source to be referenced before making a change would minimize incorrect changes. This might be especially helpful if vital information or relationships are changed. At least it would give information to others where the information came from so the change can be evaluated.

My concern is the changes that are made via APIs, from RootsMagic etc. or from bulk projects such as the BYU Record Linking Lab ones. It's important imo that the APIs are kept consistent with the UI as the latter becomes rightly much more aware of the data quality implications of changes. I started a thread in the DQS Group a while ago suggesting that the APIs needed to be data quality aware: https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/158297/visibility-via-apis

We all know that find a grave is not always accorate, we also know that there could be several people with similar names, but one of my sir names was changed because this person believed that she was only married once. I did find her listed in three marriages that is if she is the same person, I have found several spelling of this name Gist Gest, yet my sources were removed and the only explanation used was find a grave.

@StanleyDuett if you look at the "Latest Changes" the sources detached should be showing there with a restore button. It should also show you the contributor. Unfortunately FS is having an issue right now showing the contributor, and showing FamilySearch or Unknown instead.
