Help please with Scots ancestor origins

@wendyparry1 I'm far from being an expert but I've just recently spent a number of weeks tracking down one of my Scottish family lines via Scotland's People - have you tried this data base? Using their site I've been able to track back from my grandmother for which I was certain on all the data to my 2nd great grandfather by finding the various birth, marriage, and death registers plus the various census' and even wills from which a lot of information can been gleaned. I had to worked at it as the family name was, depending on the document, spelt differently. You have to pay to obtain a digital copy of the document in question but I've found that if your wallet can stand it to be well worth the effort.
I've quickly looked for the two names that you provided. But first of all are you certain of the name 'Stranlow' as this is not on their list of parishes - even Google doesn't give me an answer other than suggesting Stanlow oil refinery. I've looked for birth records under the name Miscally, eventually using a period span of 1710 to 1720, but to no avail. Jean Milroy had the nearest potential result being a Jane Millroy, born 27/04/1712 at Kirkmabreck. For both these names I used the phonetic matching option with only the surname being used. For the marriages I didn't find anything; but that doesn't mean documents don't exist you just have to work at it.
One way is to maybe start with a more recent ancestor and slowly work your well back as this will help in checking spelling of family names, birth places, parent names etc.
Happy hunting.

@wendyparry1 Be careful as Wigtown is an actual town whereas I think you mean Wigtownshire. Stranraer and Stoneykirk are not that far apart - Google it.
There's no joining fee for the Scotland's People and so you can use their indexes to your heart's content and even save potential lists. You would only dig into your wallet if you wanted a particular document - the least expensive being a digital copy. 30 credits will cost £7.50, and a digital copy of most documents is 6 credits, ie £1.50.
You need to explore different spellings of the names by using either the phonetic option or even just the first letter. Your birth years may be inaccurate so you need to use different years, either individually or as spans.
Happy hunting, it can take time and patience.
