High praise for the Family Groups Trees concept and design
1. The one world family tree vision was a monumental undertaking (in the early 90s) and achievement (Ancestral File through today). And it's a work in progress (sources, linking, merging, and AI assistance).
2. Due to privacy issues, all the living people on your family search account are private to you and they may duplicate the same individuals on the accounts of dozens of other people. Eventually as people die, everything will need to be merged together one at a time as people die. This is potentially a huge mess.
3. I feel that this new tool is a major step in bringing to full fruition the a decades-long vision of having a one world family tree.
