I have a couple of questions about a Birth and Christening record of Olof, son of Jöns Wargren and Kierstj Ebbasdotter. He was born 12 June 1766 and christened 15 June 1766, in Torekov Kristianstad. His father is Jöns Wargren and his mother is Kierstj Ebbasdotter. What is the word before Olof's name? What is the word, or farm before his father's name?

I have a question about entering Olof's name in FamilySearch. I want to show his patronymic name. In the surname field, I have entered it as Jönsson Wargren. Is that correct? The clerical surveys I have found with him as an adult only seem to show his surname was Wargren.

Thank you very much,

Julia Woodall

The word before Olof's name is Piltebarn. It means boy child. The word before Jöns is Skiepper which would mean Skipper or boat captain. Entering patronymic and non patronymic surnames together in the surname field is correct. In the end, it's really just your preference. Many people use the Alternate Names section in Family Tree to record the different versions of the names they see in the actual records.

Thank you for your answers. I thought it might be a word for skipper, but I wasn't sure.
