How do I find a death record of someone who died in Victoria, British Columbia, in 1980?

Hello I am a T&FHC in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, UK. I have a researcher looking for his Father who died in 1980 in Victoria, British Columbia. The patron's father was Geoffrey William Hurst, who was an immigrant. Could someone signpost me to a database that contains a death record for Geoffrey? Or perhaps a department that can issue a paid for death certificate?

Grateful thanks,

@davebeck

    Here is a link for information from Victoria, which may possibly help:

    And here is a link to on-line death indexes, which may possibly help:

    Gail Dever's blog is a good read for availability of Canadian records, with a link to the BC archives:

    Noticed an obituary in the in the Canada, Newspapers.com™ Obituary Index, 1800s-current for Geoffrey William Hurst in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on 12 Jun 1980.

     Information on how to order a death certificate online or by mail can be found at the following link:  Ordering a Death Certificate for the Province of British Columbia

     I hope these links provide you with the information your patron requires.

    @Randall Jay Philpot

    Hello, thank you for the Newspaper link. I just want to ask if you know if death certificates issued in Victoria, British Columbia, have cause of death information by default?

    My thanks and cheerio for now,
