Hello everyone!

I am searching for relatives in Torontal County in Hungary. In particular I was looking in the villages of Katalinfalva, Fodorhaza, Nemeth-Modos and Brestowatz (Banat). I find the records all from about the latter part of the 1700s to mid-1800s. If I want to search for earlier records or for those which follow afterwards does anyone know where I could find them? Thank you for your help! GUmlauf

The Vojvodina Archive in Serbia has the bishop's copies of the Katalinfalva RC registers for most of 1827-1895. (There are about a dozen years missing.) The site requires registration, but it's free.

Fodorháza had no church locally; Dvorzsák's gazetteer says that Roman Catholics were recorded in Csávos. The Vojvodina Archive has the bishop's copies from there for most of 1841-1895. (About half a dozen years are missing.)

I cannot find any records from (Német-) Módos besides the ones on FS.

Vojvodina has the Torontál-Bresztovác RC bishop's copies from 1878 to 1895, plus a handful of earlier ones.

Note that the Serbian archive's image viewer is Smarter Than Thou: if your device happens to have a touchscreen, then it will not allow you to use a mouse. Also, the image quality is sometimes …borderline. It's a whole lot better than nothing, though, so we make do.
