GEDCOM needs Ancestral Quest

Windows 11, Dell PC Computer, Chrome
A fellow missionary successfully downloaded GEDCOM from My Heritage. When we go to CET, it says that we need Ancestral Quest to complete the upload. She does not use Ancestral Quest for anything. Are you able to help with this? Thank you.

@PABulfinch Thank you for testing CET and giving us your valuable feedback. Will you try to recreate this error message and attach screenshots to this discussion? Thank you again.

This is a real odd report. I do not know of anything in the FamilySearch Gedcom upload code that would either require a third party software product, nor present such a message to the patron. I'm intrigued and would love to understand more about this.
I suspect that, as Tomie Avant suggests, a picture of the error will be worth a thousand words here. Sorry to ask you to try and make the error pop up again so you can capture a screen shot, only you know the steps you took that caused this to happen, and it would be most helpful in determining what is causing the situation you are seeing.

Taking a Screenshot in WindowsPress the Windows + Print Screen keys at the same time to capture the entire screen. You'll find the image in the Screenshots folder inside the Pictures folder. To screenshot just one area of the screen, press Windows Key + Shift + S to use the Snipping Tool.

Here is a screenshot of what was posted in order to upload the GEDCOM. Thank you.

Thank you so much for that image. It explains a lot. I'm going take a guess at what I think ,might be happening.
- The image that you are seeing is NOT being presented to you by FamilySearch and it has nothing to do with the CET system we are building nor any of the features related to it.
- I'm going to guess that after you downloaded the MyHeritage gedcom file, your computer associated that file with AncestralQuest as the software that it is supposed to use to open that file type when you double click the file.
- I suspect that rather than dragging and dropping the file (or selecting the file in the CET gedcom upload tool on our website), you accidentally clicked the file using your computer operating system. This resulting popup dialog is being displayed to you either by the Windows OS of possibly by an installed version of AncestralQuest.
Here's is what I recommend doing.
- Go to the following URL (which is the CET upload page):https://www.familysearch.org/groups/research-tree
- Click on the big "Upload Gedcom" button in the top right
- You will get a popup with a big blue "Select File" right in the middle…click it
- You will be presented with a file selector popup. This will enable to navigate to the location on your hard drive where the Gedcom file was stored when you downloaded it from MyHeritage. Double click the Gedcom file when you navigate to it using this selector popup.
I bet that will initiate the file upload to FamilySearch and a new CET will be created from that file (after you give it a name, description, etc of course)

The person does not use Ancestral Quest. We solved the problem by going in a different direction. .

@PABulfinch Thank you for your response. Will you please elaborate on the "direction" that you went to upload the file successfully? Was Ancestral Quest loaded on the machine you were using, whether that user uses it or not?

We created a tree on Ancestry and uploaded from there with no problems.
