GEDCOM Export
Probably way ahead of ourselves, but any thoughts down the road about being able to generate/export a GEDCOM file from a CET?

@Mark McKenzie_1 You are definitely way ahead of me… I can bring this issue to the engineers and let you know the response. May I ask why you would want to do this?

@Tomie K. Avant Always good to have a backup. Might be useful to import into third party Genealogy apps or site[s]

Is there a way to add a GED branch to a CET tree?

@GenTracer Kirkpatrick Thank you again for testing early release CET. I am going to move your comment to a new discussion and then bring it to the attention of the engineers.

The option of exporting a Gedcom file based on the content of your CET is a feature that has been discussed. However, it is not clear if or when such a feature might be delivered. Here's the reasons why…- It is not currently a feature that we have in place anywhere in our tree system. It would therefore be new work for the eng teams. We do have considerable expertise with Gedcom :-), but there is likely a much better way.
- I understand that during early access, the only way to create a CET is via Gedcom upload. That is a temporary situation. Shortly most leading software product will be able to create, populate and sync a CET all from within the software product. We anticipate that, with the exception of those patrons who are committed to doing all their genealogy work on FamilySearch in their CET, most patrons will create a CET from within their chosen software product and let the system keep the two trees in sync. Since most genealogy software already allows a Gedcom export, users who want their trees available on their desktop, will likely have created the tree from within their software and can export an up-to-date copy of their CET/Desktop tree using the feature already in that software.
I'd value your thoughts.

@Robert Kehrer Guess I'm an 'exceptional' patron :)
I do have a software product, but I initially got that to create an off-line spare in the expectation that I may not forever be a paying customer of my genealogy service. And besides, the web site tools were/are pretty weak when it comes to doing certain things on your tree.
I've never really 'researched' using my software. It's all been 'on-line' and I find myself starting to rely on FamilySearch as a way to leave my 'work' easily accessible for my progeny to enjoy/fix.
I appreciate the significant departure for FamilySearch to enter into this heretofore uncharted technical area. Especially when given the likely limited use.
With my expected use of CET I'll have to revisit my use of software and my research 'workflow'
Mark
