Hello Swedish Research Group,
I am still looking for Sixten Georg Gersonius PMM2-HDS line of parents etc. Sixten is the father of my Grandmother Clara F Gersonius L8QJ-3VG. Clara came to the U.S. from Sweden. She was born in 1874 and died in 1958. She lived down the street from my family until I was 12 when she passed. My father would always encourage me to walk down and see Ma Bassett as good grand children. I did that often. One she told me she was an orphan in Sweden and things were always difficult. She nor my father gave me any more information but I have been doing a little “digging.”
It took me awhile to find that Sixten was her father, and even longer to find her mother, Johanna Maria Larsdotter born in 1845. LZTB-TVC. Sixten was from Traryd and as far as I know he spent much or all of his life in Traryd. Traryd is a very small town in Kronoberg county in Sweden known for outdoor activities. I did some research in Wiki and found some Gersonius. Christian Gersonius and Hans Jacob Gersonius along with Jons Gersonius. They were listed as curators in Traryd. So they must have lived there and were probably related to Sixten Georg Gersonius. I could not find much information on these individuals. Christian Gersonius MYSY-K1Z, Jons Gersonius. MYSY-K11. Another is Per Gersonius. G95H-8NT and Pehr Gersonius no ID.
in correspondence, a Swedish genealogist Johanna was listed as Sixten’s girlfriend/fiancé, but she died in 1876 shortly after Clara was born. Sixten himself died in 1886, young 46. I am thinking that Clara came to America to seek a better possibly more stable family. She met Frank Bassett and got married in 1892 to him. Some of the information about Sixten was obtained from hand-written notes on the record itself. That is why going into the form itself is beneficial. I have no more information about Sixten or Clara in Sweden except that Sixten and Johanna did not marry and she passed rather quickly after Clara’s birth. I believe that the information about Sixten’s line is available just do not know how to get it.
I saw Clara much later in life when she spoke English fluently. I am sure she spoke Swedish when she was in Sweden. Nothing more was given to me by my father about Clara or the family genealogy. I hope that gives you some clues and Swedish background to be able to do some work. My father’s name is Nilsson a very common Swedish name. Many of the people in Johanna’s line were named Nilsson, and Clara may have known them.I can not thank you enough. Gerry Bassett

I found Sixten Georg Gersonius in the Swedish Death Index:
He was born 25 Oct 1839 in Traryd and was registered in Nyköping (Södermanland) when he died 14 June 1886. He was unmarried and his occupation is given as painter.
His birth record is found here: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0025960_00030
He was born out of wedlock, his mother was maid Kjerstin in Ternhult (now Tärnhult), Traryd parish. She was 26 years old at his birth. The father is not named in the birth record.
The household record for Ternhult 1837-1844 https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0025947_00087
shows Sixten Georg together with his mother Kerstin Swensdotter. She was born 20 Dec 1813 in Stenbrohult.Kerstin is also found in the Swedish Death Index:
I have not yet found how she came to the name Gersonius; she was unmarried at the time of her death.

There is a second, slightly different entry for K(j)erstin in the SwedishDeath Index:
Here she is a widow and is registered in Väsby. The comment says that she died in Plöninge which is near Höganäs in Skåne.
