New Homepage - Yes and No
Steve here, from the FamilySearch Users Group on Facebook.
When I first saw the new homepage, I really didn't like it, but it did need a change. A homepage should be a few things.
First, an information resources about what's going on with your part of the tree and the tree in general.
Second, it should be a jumping off point to go to frequently used aspects of FamilySearch.
So, it should be somewhat customizable or at least have popular key components, not just Recently Viewed and Record Hints. I personally like the Family Feed, but found it too dominant on the page. It should be a smaller option and off to the side to check for new additions at a glance. I like using the Task List to remind me to check certain records when I'm at the library. (I just noticed it at the bottom of the new page.)
I also would like to see a brief news feed of What's New, announcing new features, upcoming events, classes, seminars, upgrades and updates. It would be nice if we could customize it to our interests (locations, topics and experience levels). This could also include notification of the title of the latest Blog post to catch people's interest.
So, possibly divide the homepage into two columns; Information and an activity Menu.

I agree Steve. Right now there is too much white space where the preview of memories that had been uploaded by users to my ancestors used to be. I really liked that feature.
But using the landing page as a hub and perhaps adding a list of classes offered by various FamilySearch Centers about how to use the different areas of the site (not just the tree) would be so helpful.

Thanks for your input @JLG43 and @WilliamsSteve1 - the white space is there due to configuration for a more global audience and their devices (please see FAQ's). There are many requests (you can review these in the Announcements section of this community page). Your suggestion of an activity and information columns is very interesting as well as the classes offered - I will pass those suggestions on. Thanks for your patience and please watch for future updates!
