I don't find this to be very user friendly. Where do I go to enter new records? For someone just starting out using familysearch, it is not very intuitive.

Thanks for the feedback @Nancy Louise Harrison . I am sure you already are aware you can add people to existing family trees by going to the person you want to connect the new person to and adding a spouse, child, or parent. If you are adding records to a person (birth, marriage, etc.) you can use the Research Help or Search Records and each record has an option to attach to the tree if it is not already attached.
If you are asking about adding a person you are not sure how they connect, follow these steps:
- Sign in to FamilySearch.org.
- At the top, click on the Family Tree tab and then Recents.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Add Unconnected Person.
- Enter information about the person, and click Next.
- Review the search results. If you find the right person, click View Person.
- If you do not see the person in the search results, click Create Person.
Hope this helps.

Last week I was helping someone set up a new FamilySearch account. After she did and went to the home page, there was a widget to click in to start entering information about herself and her parents. That is where someone who is just starting out does so.
Otherwise I don't recall anything on the old home page about adding new records. You always had to go to a profile page or a tree view to do that.

This sounds like the Guided Tree experience for newer users to build out their trees. It was removed from the logged in home page for some users.

I like the new layout, there is a lot information that is very helpful when you are doing the research. But I agree that for someone that is not familiar with FamilySearch and is beginning with their tree, it can look overwhelming
