Hello. Can someone tell me what the name or note says written on the edge of this photo? (The right side letters are cut off on the photo itself, not the scan.) Thanks!

They appear to be names, possibly G u A Grote, but it is difficult to be sure without a clue. The ink is also partly faded.

The word on the right edge seems to be Frankfurt (the city name).

@Ulrich Neitzel Thank you again! I so appreciate your help. Two brothers are in the photo, which was taken probably late 1870s? I'm guessing that note must be their names.
