Years of Operation for Photography Studios?

Hello. Is there an online directory of photography studios with date ranges of when they were operational? I have the names and addresses of photographers on some photos, but mostly no years. I think they were taken between 1870s to maybe early 1900s in places like Worms, Mannheim, Mainz, Wetzlar and Kreunach.

I’d also be fine with going through city directories year by year to find the date ranges myself. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Compgen has a great site for searching city directories - https://wiki.genealogy.net/Portal:Adressbuch

    In addition to searching through "generic" city directories, you should look to see if there are any business or commerce directories, sort of like the Yellow Pages, in the areas you're looking for.
