What happens for merging the shared version of me vs all the private versions of me when I die?
If my mother and I are working on our tree, there will be 3 versions of me, as explained in a previous discussion (159169). When I die, will we just have to merge the 3 versions of me? The exciting part to me of the shared living tree was that we wouldn't have to do a bunch of merges when someone dies, but it seems like this will still be the case. Is that true?

Yes, those three versions will have to be merged.
The potential with the shared group is that as new family members get interested in FamilySearch Family Tree, they can join an existing group of close relative and never need to create any new duplicates.
For example if a man has twenty grandchildren who decide to get FamilySearch accounts and take part in the tree, as each one does he can invite them to the shared group and they can just use the profile for him in the group. Then instead of having twenty one duplicates of his profile to be merged after he dies, there will just be the one in the group that becomes his public profile.
