As a family history consultant, many seniors (who provide a huge percentage of those doing genealogy research) are easily confused and put-off by changes to the screens. Already not of the tech-y age group, they rely more on keeping things where they already know where to look for them. Repeatedly changing the placement of screens, buttons, icons, etc can be overwhelming, and leads to giving up instead of trying to figure out what's different. I just had a senior, who has been a faithful family history researcher and temple-goer, turn on the computer, found yet another new version of the computer, and leave in frustration — without doing any research or name-card printing. That is not the goal.

I recommend keeping a beta/old version available for those who don't want to try to navigate a brand new screen layout every few months.

These were my thoughts as well. I'm not even a "Senior"… just a long-time user who has struggled with the overhauls because I have enough on my plate in life that relearning the site is sometimes more than I can do.

I'm a senior but kept up with improvements. Not an issue. I've advised others, explained over the phones, so it is not a real issue because the seniors I advised, are doing well.

Thanks for your feedback @WilmethAnnCarol2 , @SarahNemelkaMansfield and @W D Samuelsen contact me please - we are hearing this from some users and it is not an issue for others. Knowing there are good reasons behind the changes, what would help you most to navigate the changes to the screen layout?

    Just a follow-up -

@WilmethAnnCarol2 , @SarahNemelkaMansfield and @W D Samuelsen contact me please - The Dec 16th release allows you to opt out (Exit Preview in the top right hand corner) for a period of time from the new version to the old.
