I don't think this is useful and gets in the way. Make it optional.
Hi: The reason is, I find the Research Help hints are usually of good quality anyway; this seems like more of an internal ranking than something you'd want a user to see. The quality is obvious once you start to attach them, and the few I dismiss are not for obvious reasons.
The really annoying thing, though is the warning that now appears when you go to edit an event, vital, etc. "Please review the tagged sources before editing this information.". I'm usually all ready to paste in some info I just found and now have to click on Edit again to do this. Slightly annoying as it's not useful and I had just done what the warning said! I can see how this might improve data quality if one never bothered to look at sources, maybe that's the intention?
At any rate, can you make this feature something you can turn off?

I second this; for me the new feature & colours are an a pointless distraction on a work page - & surely encouraging people to attach sources regardless, it feels like a computer game - 'Can you get the profile to HIGH quality?! - keep on clicking!'
It also doesn't work for profiles of those who died young as there are naturally fewer sources; I just find it a bizarre concept.
I guess there will be some who find it useful, or enjoy getting the bars to max level - but for those who really don't, could there be a way to hide the new dialogue, without obscuring the hints, please?!0
