Jacob Köster, den 3 November 1803 geboren, einen Jungges[ellen] und Sohn des hiesigen Schiffers u[nd] Eigenwoh[ners] Harm Köster am Lühedeiche und seiner Ehefrau Catharina gebor{ne] Daberhahl, der, laut persönlicher Anzeige seines Vaters, zugleich mit dem vorstehenden Johann Walter, auf dessen Schiffe er Steuermann war, in den ersten Tagen des Monats October 1844 auf der Ostsee im Sturme verunglückte, alters ohngefähr 40 Jahr 11 Monate.
and translation:
Jacob Köster, born November 3, 1803, a bachelor and son of the local skipper and inhabitant Harm Köster at Lühedeich and his wife Catharina née Daberhahl, who, according to his father's personal report, died in a storm on the Baltic Sea in the first days of October 1844, together with the aforementioned Johann Walter, on whose ship he was a helmsman, aged about 40 years 11 months.
