I am trying to read two Johannes Olsen birth records in same church, the same year to try and determine which is my person. One is Schindervigen Farm and the other is Schiolstuen Farm. I am unsure of who are the parents, their names and baptismal sponsors in the records. Thank you for any help you can give me to unravel these people.

I translated the entries below. For reference, the modern names of these farms are Skinnervika and Skjøl. The father isn't explicity identified in either entry, but of course you can extrapolate because of patronymics. The father in the first entry would be Ole Schindervigen and the father in the second entry would be Ole Skjøl or Skjølstuen. We would need some more info from you on your specific Johannes Olsen and likely need to explore some additional records like probates to go any further.

    Schindervigen entry

Johannes Olsen Schindervigen, sponsors: Ole Schindervigen and __

Berthe Schindervigen, Jon and Peder Biørnerud,

    mother: Eli Knudsdatter

    Schiøl stuen entry

Johannes Olsen Schiøl stuen, sponsors: Jørgen Schiøl og __

Jacob Evang og ___ Peder Schiølstuen, mother: Helene Olsdr

I keep trying to post a question and it never comes up so I will try this. I am trying to read the record for Peer, his parents are Niels Christopherson and I believe his mother is Else Olsdatter. Can you verify and read what else it says. Thank you.

The record reads as follows: (Entry #) 26; (born) the 6th of April 1827; (named) Peer; (christened/baptised) the 24th of May in the church; (Parents) Nils Christopherson Garsjøen and wife Else Olsd[otte]r Jmf__ [see note 1 below]; (witnesses/godparents) Catrine Olsd[stte]r, Førlie?, Ragnild Olsd[otte]r Garsjøen, ______? Olson ib[edem]; Even Evenson ib[edem]; Ole Evenson ib[edem]; (page in the Jevenførelses register) 66 [See note 2 below].

Note 1 - Jmf__ maybe abbreviation for Jomfrubraaten in Øster Aker parish (see Aker parish in Oslo), but I can't be sure of that.

Note 2 - The Jevenførelses register entry for Peer Nilsen Garsjøen can be found here (entry #68): https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/515/210. This Jevenførelses register refers to page 221 in the deaths but that must be an error - page 221 is for the deaths of girls. There is a death for a Peder Nilsen on 14 July 1828 but his age is a little off (he would have been 1 1/4 years old) and there is no indication of who his parents are so I cannot be sure this is the same as your Peer Nilson. That death record is here (entry #20): https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/7669/170.
