Birth Record omnes vs reliqui
I haven’t seen this before. Under the infants names are written either ‘omnes’ or ‘reliqui’. I tried to look these words up in a Latin dictionary. ‘omnes’ means all and ‘reliqui’ means the rest/the survivors/posterity. This isn’t clear to me. Please help me understand.
Bartholomus Birling, left page, 2nd from top is my ancestor. Thanks.

You're welcome, @DorisMiller1. I thought the "reliqui" notes might be referring to deceased children as well but there is no indication that these children died at birth or soon thereafter.

I agree with Robert. When it says "omnes de___" there is never another village named for any of the parents or sponsors. When it says "reliqui de ___" there is always at least one sponsor who is identified as from a different village.
So it simply means all are from the named village when "omnes" is used and when "reliqui" is used it means those recorded with a named village are from that village and the "rest are from ____"

Hello @DorisMiller1,
I have not seen this before either.
Here's some food for thought:
Your image is 079 from the Ichenhausen baptismal register.
The "omnes" and "reliqui" notes first appear on image 078 and last until image 082. Look through these and you will note the following:
The note begins with either the word "omnes" or "reliqui" and goes across the bottom of columns 2 and 3 and sometimes 4. This is particuarly noticeable on image 078. It also appears that these notes were entered at a later date.
The words "omnes" or "reliqui" are followed by "de" and then a place name.
So, the note may be referring to where the parents and possibly the godparents are from.
Turning to your image 079, the first record at the top of the page has the note "omnes de Ichenhausen" = all from Ichenhausen. This may be referring to the parents and child and perhaps the godparents as well.
In the record for your ancestor Bartholomus Birling, the note across columns 2 and 3 reads: "reliqui de Rohr". This is not as easy to interpet as the "omnes" note. Notice that the godparents are from a place called "Wil_ertshausen". The note in your record might mean: the rest from Rohr (indicating that the parents come from Rohr). But of course this begs the question, why are they having their child baptized in Ichenhausen? Note however that there is a place called Unterrohr two miles east of Ichenhausen which only has a Catholic church and it's possible they wanted to have the child baptized in the Catholic parish church at Ichenhausen.
If you look at the other "reliqui" notes in these records, it appears that the godparents come from one place and the parents (i.e., "the rest") come from a different place.
Let's see if others weigh in on this.

Thanks @Robert Seal_1. I thought it might have to do with which infants died at birth. As for Rohr, at lot of my ancestors are from Unterrohr, but they are often just recorded as coming from Rohr. The records for Rohr are in Ichenhausen and later in Ettenbeuren. Thanks for trying to figure out this mystery.
