May I have a translation for Wilhelmine Babbel
The indexed information tells: Wilhelmine Babbel, maiden name Kuckliess, Mother, Spouse is Johann Babbel, Child is Anna Louise Babbel.
I am wondering if there is more to be translated so I can learn more. The record covers two pages. It comes from Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1518-1921. Wehlau>Gross Engelau>Taufen 1817-1864. I can't tell what type of a record it is.
Thank you very much…Nancy Crawford

You're welcome, @Nancy Carroll Evans Crawford.
I agree that Anna Louise and Friedrich Adolf are sibilings.
I am not familiar with genealogical research in East Prussia. You may want to post your query about the boat-owner Babbel to the German community at large.

Hello again @Nancy Carroll Evans Crawford,
Based on the birth/baptismal record you recently posted for Friedrich Adolph Babbel. I have two corrections to make for my translation of Anna Louise Babbel's birth/baptismal record as follows:
Father: Johann Babbel, "Eigenkäthner" (= cottager who owns his own cottage).
Officiating clericName of the parish: Gross Engelau [which is abbreviated in the record as "Gr Eng"].My comment: Here is the link for Gross Engelau from Meyers Gazetteer: https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10636012
Gross Engelau is approximately five miles east-southeast of Sechshuben.0 -
Thank you very much! A very important piece not listed here is the year. I will try to search in previous pages. I think it is safe to assume that Anna Louise Babbel and Friedrick Adolf Babbel are siblings. Sechshuben is a new village I had not heard of before, but it is reasonably close to what I would expect.
I am looking for a boat-owner, last name Babbel, who owned a large farm, and would travel to the Orient to purchase spices, and bring them back to sell in East Prussia. His children were raised by a governess, and they would often go to the opera in Konigsberg. His daughter, named Louise, was burned by an oil lamp in the barn, and had to be hospitalized in Konigsberg. Estimated years for all this 1880-1900. Any ideas on where to search?
Thank You, again,
Nancy Crawford
