Greencastle, Anglesea, Wales ?
I have an ancestor who was born in 1634. The information I have says he was born in Greencastle, Anglesea, Wales. Using modern internet searching, I see lots of Greencastle(s) around the UK (mostly Ireland). I have found information online that claims there is a Castell Moel in Wales that used to be known with the similar name but it is south and not in Anglesey/Anglesea; so that conflicts. I am wondering if anyone has advice of where/how I can find maps or locations of places dating back in the 1600s (or other dates). Are there cemetary resources or certain church resources, I should be looking? Please help my lack of understanding and thank you for your time.

This is the Welch translation. Castell Glas, Ynys Môn. You may have better luck finding the place. According to Google it is in Northern Wales. Hope this is helpful.

Thank you for your reply, Israelshallprevail.
I will keep looking. I learned some things along the way but I am still not finding anything that cannot be ruled out. There is a Castell Glas in Newport but that is South; not in Anglesey (Ynys Môn). The search continues like always.

You may be more effective with your time by looking at the source information for that birth. There are very few records that provide a birth year in the 1630s. I would start with the marriage date and place for this ancestor and the birth/christening dates and places for his children. These records should give you more clues for locating the birthplace you are searching for.
